PCM - I think the 'Enterprise' needs to get 'Personal'

The right information, in the right place, at the right time.  It's really that simple.  And because different people with different jobs need different information at different times, we need to figure out how to get 'Personal'!

Let me share the admittedly NON-Enterprise example that brought this to mind.  Last week I noticed one of the rear tires on our Minivan, (we call it a FUV, Family Utility Vehicle...much better) was low.  This led to a closer inspection which uncovered just how bad all our tires were because the car was slightly out of alignment and the tires had not been rotated properly.  $550 dollars later, I am sitting in the lobby of Tires Plus cursing myself for failing to stay on top of regular maintenance.  Uhg.  (Those tires probably should have gotten another 20,000 miles.)

With all the things on my plate, how can I remember this stuff!?  ...hmmm, wait a minute, I bet somebody has an App for this on the iPhone!!  ...Sure enough!!  A great little app called Car Care.  It helps you remember all the routine maintenance for you car while also tracking gas mileage.  Simply pull it out while your waiting at the pump; enter odometer reading, fuel price and how many gallons.  Because its asking for the right information, in the right place, at the right time, it's easy to do.  As a result, you get a reminder of all the other tasks.  Simple, useful, efficient, MONEY SAVING and even kind of cool.  ...And don't forget, I found this while waiting in the lobby of Tires Plus.

This is what I call 'PCM' or Personal Content Management.  It seems to me, Enterprise 2.0 is essentially the goal of trying to make this happen at work.
