Microsoft and Middle Eastern Oil...Dependencies I'd like to be without!

No doubt, Microsoft has done great things and created extremely useful tools.  Unfortunately, their contributions have been made with yesterday's model...resident apps on our desktop.  As a result, we have conflicts between this version and that, this program and that program, etc.  It's manageable if you have a full time IT Dept., but a HUGE pain if your a small business managing technology yourself.

The good news is that there are options coming online!  About a year ago, I was so frustrated trying to keep my ACT! and OUTLOOK working together that I threw them away!!  I moved all my contacts to my Gmail account, found a SaaS based 'line of business' application and even started using Google Doc's to create content.  The only thing I pay for is my 'line of business' app, ($30 a month) which is cheaper than all the upgrades that I was constantly being forced to make.

I still use Microsoft tools for some things, but I am no longer DEPENDENT...no longer losing days of productivity to upgrades and incompatibilities.  It feels better than you can imagine...and I have learned a lot of new tools and Google Apps along the way that have made life easier in all sorts of ways.
